But how can You compare the results after finishing the ride.
What do You think about riding expirience of future participants and theirs motorbikes also? Is it important from Your point of view?
Comparing is very easy. If you look in our ride rules then you find:
The winner of the ride will be the team whose estimated time of passing through the checkpoints and actual time difference arithmetic mean is the smallest.
It means all participants have to send to us at least two weeks before the ride some itinerary. Lets say that mine will look like that:
Time Km Place
15:00 0,0 Depart Tartu
16:20 97,4 Depart Mäo
17:41 187,4 Depart Tallinn
19:28 316,9 Depart Pärnu
20:20 380,2 Entering Latvia
20:36 381,5 Depart Ainazi
22:13 494,0 Depart Riga
0:07 633,1 Depart Jekabpils
1:17 722,3 Depart Daugavpils
1:37 745,4 Entering Lithuania
1:55 748,8 Depart Zarasai
3:57 897,0 Depart Vilnius
5:12 997,1 Depart near Kleboniskis
6:16 1086,6 Depart near Vanagiskiai
7:38 1206,4 Depart Klaipeda
8:11 1255,3 Entering Latvia
9:32 1324,6 Depart near Grobina
11:06 1433,7 Depart Ventspils
12:31 1529,8 Depart near Jaunkarlini
13:50 1620,4 Arrive Riga
At the finish point we arrange some people as a ride office. They take my itinerary and my gas station cheques and start to calculate.
Lets say I was in Mäo not at 16:20, as I promised, but at 16:25. It means difference 5 minutes. In Tallinn I was exactly 17:41. It means 0 minutes. But may be in Pärnu I was 7 minutes
earlier that promised.
It means also 7 minutes difference from plan. In the end you have to add all the differences in times and divide with number of checkpoints. We get arithmetic mean from differences. Easy like that.
I can't say anything about necessary riding experience and/or riders motorbikes. It is everybodys personal decision. We have to understand that in principle almost everybody is able to complete that ride. People have done it with 50cc motorbikes. The age and the sex does not matter. But all the safety is in our heads. Every rider has to understand that there may be circumstances when it is necessary to quit the ride and not to push any more.
It is not supposed to be life and death game.
